Tuskats are the tiniest of the [[Trop]] breed, both in physical stature and mental ability. They are short and thin, have fine greasy fur, and stubby digits on their hands. They have exceptional senses, especially sight. Having large eyes mounted on flexible eyestalks gives them good binocular vision and the ability to see in all directions. While not necessarily agile, Tuskats are amazingly limber and flexible - able to squeeze down improbably narrow confines and squirmy enough to escape most people's grasp.

The species has succeeded due to two traits - impressive awareness allowing Tuskats to excel in stealth, and a severe lack of courage. When faced with adversity they will almost always turn tail and run for their lives. This instinct, while helping them survive, makes them tend to have rather limited social skills.

There are two final notes that should be mentioned about Tuskat Trops. First, those members of the species that are above the usual range for intelligence and/or bravery are virtually always underestimated by strangers. Second, perhaps evolved as a survivability trait, the flesh of a Tuskat Trop tastes absolutely awful to most lifeforms.
