A Sandarak is a biped whose features look twisted and bent. They have thick leathery skin that is dark yellow in colour. Their head is elongated with recessed black eyes, sharp teeth, and a mass of thick hair on top. They have a large range of sizes, yet always appear stocky.
It is unknown where the Sandaraks originated, but in the climax of their empire it is said they controlled numerous galaxies. At the time they met the indigenous species of the First Galaxy, their vast empire had long since disintegrated and those left were looking to expand their diminishing influence. Wars were fought and lost with the Confederation, and eventually any organized force of Sandaraks within Confederation influence was destroyed.
The individual members of the Sandarak race had no choice but to try and make a life for themselves under Confederation rule. For centuries after the Sandarak defeat, they were kept close track of by the Confederation to ensure they did not try to regain any of their former power. Eventually, the attention on them diminished and they were viewed as just another species living within the Confederation.
By the time of the Confederation collapse, the Sandaraks had fully integrated into the society in which they live. Although they are still mistrusted by many, Sandaraks have been able to integrate and flourish in most areas of known space, usually by keeping a low profile.
