You’ll need to spend 100 hours there before phase 2 opens up. Phase 2 is off-world through a fold space. There are ten locations that you can pick to go in phase 2. They chose info on base 2, which turned out to be useless as it didn’t have a shortcut. | ||

| + | On the way to bar 3, they got another warning of a nearby Serf team. Based on starting locations, it was likely Serf1. They hid and waited and eventually were attacked. The attackers used stealth against them, but didn’t account for Serf3 having grenades. Pre-Game
10 Years Ago
As about to be newly created beings you are informed that you are to be created as your planet’s champions in an upcoming Hangry Games. For the next ten years, you will grow up on the planet you’re fighting for and be trained in the skill required for the game. Victory will bring glory for your society, as well as much needed resources.
You all have thirty two points from the custom being generator. During the next decade you will be trained to third stage and have maximum bonuses and stamina from those stages. However, there’s a small catch. Each Hangry Games requires something different from its players to keep the audience entertained. For this one it was decided that all occupations must be the same1. It will be a spectacle of lopsidedness. The teams you are competing against will be under similar restrictions. Stages earned once the games begin are not restricted.
To allow for individuality, you can also cultivate a unique skill, though it will not count towards stages or any bonuses.
As you grow up, you learn that your planet is called Serf3, and is under control of a planet called Gigas. You will be competing against four other teams from other subjugated planets. You don’t learn anything specific about past Hangry games, but the general feeling you get is that they’re extremely unfair.
1 - No Mentalist - this area of space doesn't have them.
Whilst nervously waiting for the games to begin, the head scientist on your team comes to visit you in your quarters. After some encouraging platitudes, he asks if you’ve heard the rumours about far off space men with magical powers. You have heard of these so-called Mentalists, but didn’t think much of it. The scientist tells you that the rumours are true, and thanks to some smuggled knowledge, they think they’ve learned how to enable them. All of your genetic makeups have been tweaked so that you can earn stages of Mentalist. You’ll be the test case to see if these abilities are just a lot of hype. You’re dubious.
He seems unsettled about telling you this and emphatically states that you should keep this secret. If you plan to try, only use abilities that aren’t flashy. Nothing that would cause the Gigasians to ask questions. In fact, if possible fake some brain damage before going up a stage so that it seems like you just regained a lost stage instead of going up in Mentalist.

You settle into orbit around Gigas and are given a view of a city. An advisor visits you and tells you that they’ve received the rules of the game. The city is phase 1. If you can get the prize back to the fold space, and then back to a waiting Serf3 ship, you’ll have won.
Five of the ten phase 2 locations have a shortcut you can use to bypass the final boss. However, the shortcuts themselves have a challenge you must pass to use it.
During phase 1, you can visit up to 10 bars in the city. Once in a bar, you can receive information about one of the phase 2 locations - if they have a shortcut and the nature of the task to utilize it. If a Serf team kills another Serf team, then their planet will not be included in the possible pool of bonus prize recipients.
Once on Gigas, you’ll be given two 1D6 weapons of your choice, a med kit, tool kit, and 20 patches each.

September 18, 2026 - Progress Through Bars
The team set about healing their wounds with their med kits. During that time, their game wiki warned that another Serf team has “Passed within 1 km of your present location”. They hid and continued to heal. Eventually, they spotted and were spotted by the Serf5 team. It was a very similar group including a four armed beast and one who could fly. They also recognized mannerisms that indicated another group of Aggressors.
They negotiated a trade of information - the reward for bar 10 was revealed to be stim patches. It was also noted that Serf5 all had med packs instead of kits, but wouldn’t reveal where they got them from. Serf5 indicated that they were not going to hunt any other teams and went on their way to bar 9 (which was rapidly being rebuilt).
Guessing that bar 10 might be medic related, they skipped additional healing and went straight there. No challenge was apparent and the group was tempted to use one of their five ‘freebies’. It was noticed however that the bartender was having trouble keeping up with serving a very unruly crowd. Jayani offered to help and her beermaking knowledge was put to good use to serve appropriate drinks. Jayani convinced the bartender to let them borrow med packs to do some better healing.
Eventually the group decided to accept the challenge, which turned out to be helping the bartender which had already been accomplished. They didn’t want the stims, so chose to learn about base 10 which turned out to require sharp shooter skills to get to the shortcut. They used the borrowed med packs to heal up and then went to bar 1.
Bar 1 didn’t have an obvious challenge. The only possible hint they had was that the patrons of the bar seemed to be either current or former prisoners awaiting transport. Though why the prisoners were still lightly armed was anyone’s guess. Serf3 chose to use a freebie and were awarded with high-end medical packs. They continued on to bar 2.
Bar 2 seemed to have a scuzzy feel, with a lot of lowlife individuals. They also noticed a stealthy reptiloid briefly who winked at them. They guessed that this bar required stealth which is not one of their strengths, so they chose to use a freebie. The bartender took them into a back room and offered them either information about a base, or a large sum of money that would be transferred to them secretly once the contest was over. They chose info on base 2, which turned out to be useless as it didn’t have a shortcut.
On the way to bar 3, they got another warning of a nearby Serf team. Based on starting locations, it was likely Serf1. They hid and waited and eventually were attacked. The attackers used stealth against them, but didn’t account for Serf3 having grenades. Eventually they decided the fight wasn’t worth it and withdrew and it was apparent they were awarded move boots at some point. Based on their ducking and stealth abilities, they were almost certainly defenders.
Of the hundred hours allocated to phase 1, 9 hours have passed.
