WAR (wôr)
noun

  1. A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties.
  2. The period of such conflict.
  3. The techniques and procedures of war; military science.

Huh.

What is it good for?

This is actually a surprisingly good question even in a violence-oriented game system such as this. Because, when the AIF combat rules are considered pragmatically, it is clear that they are only really functional for limited numbers of participants. This makes sense, considering that the game evolved primarily around the "role-playing adventure" mode of play. If what you want to emulate instead is a vast sprawling battle, much less a whole varied war, you need to get creative.

For that creative discussion, meet me behind the scenes, Dave.
