Colloidlings are amorphous creatures whose entire bodies can shift and move, save only for a central brain-knot. They are capable of extending pseudopods to manipulate objects, and move mainly by flowing action.
They ingest food and liquids by enveloping them, and often keep their possessions inside their volume. If they're not careful, what they keep inside of themselves sometimes get partially digested, or they may suffer from indigestion due to these possessions. Their entire surface is sensitive to light and sound, and they talk by vibrating a portion of their outer boundary like a speaker.
A Colloidlings ability to change its shape is dependent on its strength rating. The stronger a Colloidling is, the more resilient its body is, and therefore the slower it is able to change its shape. One with hypernormal strength will usually keep one shape for long periods of time and move by walking on pseudopods. On the other end of the scale, one with average strength will be a constantly shifting mass of flowing, organic goo.
Colloidlings can function equally well on land and under water, as they absorb oxygen through their outer lining from either air or water. They swim extraordinarily well.
A distinct disadvantage of these otherwise very capable beings is that medical equipment is ineffective for them. Damage they suffer can only be restored by growth, at a rate of one (1) die per hour per stage. They require a source of nutrition for the replacement of body mass, and so must eat an amount proportional to the mass that needs replacement. Medical kits and patches are completely useless, except as irritants. However, Colloidling's seem to be immune to mortal wounds, and since they don't have a head, only a roll of a six on placement will hit the vitals, causing double damage.
