Flame throwers are common short range assault weapons that deploy a combustible liquid that burns the target. Adding to their effectiveness, targets hit by a flame thrower (nicks do not count) continue to burn for 1D of damage per turn because of the combustible material deposited. It takes 1D of action to put the flames out. Maximum duration of burning is at the referee's discretion and depends on how flammable the target is.
They are extremely bulky, consisting of both a tank and firing mechanism. They are quite fragile and if you wish to add armour or shields to the weapon, the cost is doubled. However, compared to other assault weapons of similar damage, they are quite inexpensive.
