Flinch
Flinching is a last-ditch choice by a being to decide how they want to absorb damage.
If using a shield (with sufficient duck buffer to be applicable), a being can decide whether or not the shield takes the damage (first).
If an item being carried is being targeted by an attack that gets to pick placement - either beating the defence by 10 or rolling a 6 on placement - the target can flinch to decide whether they take the damage instead of what they are carrying. NOTE: this is not possible if the defence is bested by 20+.
If a being takes massive harm to a limb (arm or leg), they can flinch and decide to lose that limb (with the associated proportion of maximum stamina 1/3 or 1/2 respectively) instead of taking the full damage. Referees should be appropriately descriptive in the actual mechanism of the limb loss, obviously.
